Client testimonial from Balfour Beatty Project Director Derek Orr follows:
“I am writing this note to thank the Kilnbridge Management and Delivery Teams for their performance in the delivery of the Class 1 Nuclear Marine Intake Heads as part of the Hinkley Point C New Nuclear Build Marine Project.
Most importantly, the commitment of your company to the Health, Safety and Welfare of all on site has been exceptional. This has been particularly challenging as a result of the impact of Covid 19 virus, where due to the project being of Critical National Importance we have continued construction works on site. Your teams approach in meeting and exceeding the COVID-19 Site Operating Procedures by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is appreciated and Kilnbridge’s methodology to ensure that the requirements of social distancing are met on site are a particular feature.
Secondly, the quality of the workmanship from initial steelfixing through to concreting has been outstanding. The 4,500 tonne reinforced concrete cooling water intake heads involved some of the most complicated reinforcement fixing that I have ever experienced. This requires fixing to exceptionally close tolerances and your team has risen to this challenge with industry leading “right first time” inspection statistics. Additionally, as this is the first nuclear Class 1 structure ever to be cast outwith a nuclear licensed site, your attitude towards nuclear safety and the standards achieved have given the Client, Regulators and Stakeholders confidence in our ability to successfully deliver.
Finally, despite the complexities of the above and the challenges associated with the Covid 19 virus, the team have successfully delivered the concrete pours on their scheduled dates. The Kilnbridge commitment to deliver the project to time has resulted in alternate strategies being developed to deliver the project objectives.
Please pass my thanks to all of the team working for their attitude, commitment and resilience in delivering the project. I would also like to thank the Kilnbridge Management Team for creating such a positive culture within your team working on site which has allowed the delivery of the project to successfully continue as planned”
