Our History

Kilnbridge was, until recently, a privately owned company, founded in 1991 as a general building and civil engineering contractor by Dermot McDermott.

Initially undertaking builders’ work packages on the Canary Wharf development, the business soon earned a reputation for being able to deliver complex construction works to a very high standard and for achieving difficult programme deadlines.

During this period, our specialist business units of Concrete Cutting & Controlled Demolition, Fire Protection, Fabrication (now K FAB) and Waste Management all evolved to provide the flexibility to meet the needs of our varied clients.

In 2002, we established our head office, consolidation centre and main plant depot, K PLANT, at Cody Road Business Park in East London, where it is still based today, The company also operates a Midlands office in Birmingham, Detailing office in Belfast, Fabrication and Manufacturing facility in Northampton and a Material Recycling facility in Rainham, making us a truly national company.

Since its formation, Kilnbridge has grown in scope, capability and ambition, and has developed into an engineering and construction business operating as a turnkey specialist structures contractor.

Today, we provide our clients engineered solutions to complex projects throughout the UK and across a wide range of industry sectors, drawing on our full range of knowledge, experience and skills to help clients realise their vision.

In 2021 the founder and Chairman Dermot McDermott transitioned the company into an employee-owned business which has unlocked many benefits for the whole organisation.
