Scope of works

Kilnbridge completed fire protection works for Jaguar Land Rover at their new engineering centre in Gaydon, Warwick.
During planning of the performance requirements of this project, great attention was placed upon the air sealing to the underfloor compartmentation (including floor movements and acoustic ratings) before a system was developed with Firetherm to meet the demand of 120-minute fire resistance. The double board system was installed to circa 500m of raised floor junctions and inside the contract timeframe.

The project also involved works on the large risers where the dampers pass through the compartment. Considerable research and engineering went into the arrangement that allowed a practical solution to achieve the required fire rating; the manufacturer who assisted Kilnbridge in the installation of FM Blue supported the design and the delivery team achieved an impressive finish both qualitatively and efficiently. This overcame related issues on previous projects which had entailed multi trade-issues involving further concrete pours.

The project also required multiple build specifications in areas that would commonly be a standard single batt detail. The use of Soft Seal manufactured and supported by Rockwool produced the finish and performance the client demanded at the outset.

Challenges / Achievements

  • Development of innovative solutions to prevent programme delays
  • Long-standing relationships with specialist fire material manufacturers allowed Kilnbridge to meet the client’s high expectations of finish and performance within budget
