Scope of works

Wood Wharf is a 23-acre site in Canary Wharf currently under construction to provide offices, homes and retail space. It will contain 5 million ft² of space, including 2 million ft² of office space, 3,330 residential homes, 8.9 acres of public space and 380,000 ft² of shops, restaurants and space for community use.

The scope of works was the construction of the common basement at 10 Park Drive and the overlying superstructures for A2 and A3. This included secondary steel work with an overall reinforced concrete footprint of 65,000m². Building A2 comprised 14 floors and building A3 comprised 43 floors of reinforced concrete frame.

In parallel Kilnbridge were engaged to deliver the Northern Road Box which comprised the construction of a reinforced concrete structure and the installation of multiple services. The Northern Road Box was the first phase of the multi-phased approach to installing the permanent services to the project.

Kilnbridge’s works also included the construction of the Water Street Causeway and both bridge abutments to enable the installation of a single leaf bascule bridge connecting Montgomery Street and Wood Wharf.

Challenges / Achievements

  • Complex multi-faceted project including heavy civils work, marine works, superstructure and bridge engineering
  • Water Street Bridge won a number of awards and was also the focus of a paper published by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
